BLACK CREATIVES AOTEAROA

Dione Joseph is the founder of Black Creatives Aotearoa and co-founder of JK Productions: He Kōrero Ngā Tahi (Telling Our Stories Together). Over the past decade, her commitment to creating, sharing and manifesting opportunities for diverse artists has seen her create work with different communities in Aotearoa and Australia. She is a writer, director and dramaturge with an emphasis on producing works by Indigenous and PoC (People of Colour) creatives.

She has worked in Australia, the USA, Canada, China, Mexico and across Aotearoa as an artist, academic and arts writer and is a current participant on the Leadership NZ Program. More information can be found on dionejoseph.com

Black Creatives Aotearoa was founded by Dione Joseph in 2018 to create a space where creatives of African and/or Caribbean descent could connect, create and collaborate in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Today they have over 350 members across the country featuring more than fifty different creative forms.

Dione and her creatives will be leading the Whakamahi Toi - Social Impact and the Arts segments, exploring through performance how the arts be a vehicle for social innovation, and authentic participation.
